DANAO CITY, Cebu — Proving its strength in campus journalism, the Toledo City Division echoed proudly across the halls of Colegio de San Antonio de Padua as they emerged among the regions’ best, securing top rankings and multiple section awards in the Region VII School Publication Awards on March 6, 2026.
With pens that were sharpened by passion and pages filled with stories of truth and creativity, Toledo City’s school publications — once again — proved that journalism thrives in the division, reflecting dedication, teamwork, and excellence in student press.
Elementary Level Publications Garnered Regional Distinction
Leading the division’s elementary level achievements was Leaton School, Inc.’s publication “Leaton Scribe” which earned Top 2 Best School Publication in Region VII (Filipino). Joining them in that ramp was Himatugan Elementary School’s “The Boulders” which secured Top 5 Best School Publication in English. They radiated the strength of Toledo City Division’s Elementary Campus Journalism on the regional stage.
In the secondary level, Toledo City Science High School’s Ang Siklab also finished Top 2 Best School Publication in Filipino, highlighting the division’s strong presence in the regionals.
Beyond the overall rankings, Toledo City Division also excelled in various section awards!
At the elementary level, “Leaton Scribe” dominated several Filipino categories, winning 1st Place in Best Editorial Section in Filipino and 1st Place in Best SciTech Section in Filipino, along with 2nd Place in Best Feature Section in Filipino, 2nd Place in Best Sports Section in Filipino and 3rd Place in Best Layout and Page Design in Filipino.
For the Best Feature Section in English, Calibasan Elementary School’s “Baktas” captured 1st Place. Meanwhile, Himatugan Elementary School’s “The Boulders” continued its winning run with 2nd Place for Best Feature Section in English and 3rd Place for Best Layout and Page Design in the same medium, proving resilience in both writing and visual presentation.
Carmen Elementary School’s “Depensa” also made its mark, earning 3rd Place for Best SciTech Section in English and 4th Place for Best Feature Section in English, reflecting the school’s commitment to informative and engaging science and technology reporting.
Secondary Level Publications Showcase Excellence
Leading the secondary charge for the division, Toledo City Science High School continues their strong performance through their publication. “Ang Siklab” bagged 1st Place in Best Layout and Page Design in Filipino, 3rd Place in Best SciTech Section in Filipino, 4th Place in Best Sports Section in Filipino, and 5th Place in Best Editorial Section in Filipino. Their English publication, “The Catalyst”, placed 3rd in Best in SciTech Section in English and 3rd in Best Layout and Page Design in English.
Leaton School Inc. also clinched 4th Best in Layout and Page Design in English in the secondary category.
With these victories, Toledo City’s campus journalists continue to soar high, further cementing the division’s reputation as one of Central Visayas’ impressive contenders in school publications. From every headline written to every page designed, they have proven that powerful stories begin with passion-driven student journalists, guided by their dedicated School Paper Advisers whose mentorship helps bring these stories to life.
